7 Questions With Meg Ryan

7 Questions With Meg Ryan

Darrah RichardsonNovember 24, 2017

No, not that Meg Ryan. But Meg Ryan, Owner of Bowtique Hair and Makeup and Co-owner of The Hills Bowtique, is a star in her own right in the local hair and makeup scene. Look no further than her Instagram feed for proof of that fact, but be prepared to develop mega hair envy (don't say we didn't warn you). We caught up with Meg this week for the eighth installment of our "7 Questions With..." series.

1. How did you get started in business?

My sister Monique has her own business, Serpentine Studios, and she was encouraging me to open my own salon. She gave me the push I needed to do so!

2. What is your morning routine?

I’m up at 5:30am. Coffee then I hit the gym before work. I do most of my work emails while on the stair master (I’m working out while filling out these questions haha).

3. What is your favourite way to spend a Sunday?

I take my Sundays seriously! As my only day off (usually), I try to make time for family or friends.

4. What's a goal you're working towards right now?

Business goal: I'm working on something, but it’s a secret for now 😉.

Personal goal: To find more time in my day for me.

5. Who inspires you and why?

The girls I work with. They never give up. They're always working towards being happier/healthier people and encouraging others to do the same. I'm a better person because of them. They are an incredible group of women.

6. When was the last time you failed spectacularly at something?

I’m not sure if I’ve ever failed spectacularly at something. I give everything 100% and it’s been working for me. I’m really good at problem solving so I figure things out before it becomes a fail.

7. Which good cause is closest to your heart?

We do Karma Kuts once a month at the salon. All proceeds go to a charity, usually local. When it’s my turn to pick, I usually do Bide Awhile or the SPCA.

Meg radiates a rare combination of genuine warmth and quiet confidence; she's one of the most in-demand stylists in the city for good reason. Rather than simply coast on her talent and skills, she chooses to use her platform to elevate those around her. We've been excitedly following along with Bowtique's growth over the years and can't wait to learn what Meg's working on next! Stay up to date by giving the salons a follow: @bowtiquehairandmakeup and @thehillsbowtique
